I am still in awe at last nights show.
Playing for the hometown crowd, they put it all out on the stage.
Started out having to sit in stopped traffic forever. Finally got to the parking lot. They stopped us. made us sit there forever again. First in line at the stop at least. After about 15 minutes. They let us through. OMG. They opened a new parking area. We got the best fucking parking spot ever. It was stacked parking. We got first one in line at the exit. Everyone else was behind us. So the thousands of cars behind us, had to wait for everyone else ahead to move before they could. The lady next to me almost O'd her pants. She couldn't believe it either. So after massive high 5's all around. We started walking in. No lines. Being early helps. No frisking, WTF. If I'd known that I would have brought some other things. So we get inside. Got a pre-warm up band playing out front. Not too bad. Forget their name, so couldn't be that good either. Got some beer, some munchies. Went to find our seat. Score again. Showed the tix to the security guard. Right there. YES!!!. Easy in, easy out. Got bored with the warm up bands. Both will never be head liners in my opinion. So the sun finally set. Party time!!!
Growing Old Is Getting Old started it. All of the people out front of the Greek. Drinking, smoking, and conversing started running. I mean running for their seats. The home town crowd was here to watch our heros. Halfway through the song, they were still running to their seats. They played all of their singles. One hit, after another. They only played a couple non-singles the first hour. That was Future Foe Scenarios, and Sort Of.
Every song was full throttle. I mean, way farther than I have every seen them played before. They were into it. The crowd was into it. Even Nikki's python joke got a good laugh. Once they got to Royal We. The crowd was orgasmic. Brian did some talking about being home. Said he knew what we were all up to. he said he could smell the weed from down there. That got a great roar from the crowd. Future Foe Scenerios was not well known by a large part of the crowd. They sort of looked at each other, and wondered why they didn't hear it on the Swoon CD. Like duh, it's not from it. Nikki singing "Nice to know you work alone" was a shocker. I thought Brian sung all of it. That was the first time I saw that song live. So I didn't know. Sue me. Panic Switch got the crowd to their feet. Everyone was hoppin', boppin', and head bangin' to the song. The Swooners looked around again as Lazy Eye started playing. I guess the SSPU newbies were out and about. They got schooled. They got their asses whooped by Principal Brian. I guess they might go and look now to see if SSPU has any other albums out now.
After Lazy Eye, the concert newbies started leaving. WTF.
The band left, the lights didn't come on. DUH!!! They will be back.
I never understood people who leave after the band leaves the stage. I have been to show with 2 sets of encores. You scream, and yell. The band will come back.
But anyway. They come back on stage and go right into Substitution. Awesome. A couple fo the girls were playing musical chairs during it. Pretty funny. Last song of the night. Common Reactor. Purely epic. Awesome. At the end of it, and Lazy Eye earlier, Brian left his guitar laying on the ground, creating feedback. A tech came out both times to end it.
The crowning touch. At the end of Common Reactor, after Brian set down his guitar creating noise. He would take a few steps, and look over his shoulder, a few more, another look, a few more another look, after he finally got to the back of the stage, he sat on his ass and scooted backwards off stage. A truely great performance of epic preportions...
